Polar and Arctic animals

Yesterday we learned about the walrus.
Did you know that a walrus can swim 100 miles
without stopping?

Today we are learning about the Snowy Owl.
The snowy owl lays a clutch of 3-11 eggs.
A females feathers are darker than the male.
Young male owls get whiter as they get older.
The white color helps the owl hide in the snow.
They have great hearing and eyesight.
Their preferred meal is the lemming (small rodent).
The snowy owl eats 3-5 a day and supplements their diet
 with rabbit, birds and fish.
